The Philippines is one of the biggest fans of Miss Universe. And the 86 queens who competed this year are in awe due to the unwavering support and hospitality of the Filipinos. After Bulgaria's Violina Ancheva donated her Sherri Hill gown to a lucky Pinay for her prom, Miss Germany also gave something for the Philippines as a sign of gratitude.
Johanna Acs has donated her 2 kilogram castle headpiece that was part of her National costume to the University of Santo Tomas as a token of appreciation to the Filipinos' hospitatlity during her stay here in the country. She personally gave it to an alumna of UST College of Architecture and Fine Arts Batch 1987, Maria Consolacion "Sol" Dayo-Albar.
The official turnover ceremonies were held last February 13, 2017 at the UST Museum's main gallery. Alongside the Brother's Grimm inspired headpiece of Miss Germany, 28 Miss Universe themed dolls from the personal collection of Asst.Professor Anna Cherylle Ramos, director of UST Educational Technology Center, were also on display. The said dolls wore miniature dresses inspired by the Miss Universe candidates' long gowns and were designed by local doll dress designers. The exhibit will run for 6 months according to UST Museum Director Rev. Fr. Isidro Abano, O.P.
The exhibit can be viewed at the UST Museum until February 24, 2017. <3
